Is my period normal?

Every day I receive emails from women from around the world asking me questions about their periods and getting pregnant. I try to answer as many as I can but I decided to make a video for each question that I answer in the hope that other women will find the information about getting pregnant useful.

Question: What if my period does not arrive on the same day every month. Is my period normal?

I got an email from a woman who asked me what if her period does not arrive on the same day every month. She said that last month it arrived on the 22nd and this month it started on the 24th. Does this mean there is a problem with her period? NO!

A regular period is a good sign that your hormones are in balance. A regular period is one that comes every month. The average number of days between the start of each period is 28 days. But this is not the same for every woman and for each woman, the time between periods can vary. The time between your periods is called your menstrual cycle.

The length of the cycle can change from month to month. Sometimes it might be 26 days from the start of one period to the next; sometimes 28 days, sometimes 30 days, and so on. Every woman's cycle is different.

But the main thing to ask yourself is do you get your period once a month?

It doesn’t matter if it comes on different days of the month, but if you can look back over the year and say, "yes, I got a period every month, one in January, February, March..." then you can assume that your periods are regular.

Now the next step is to calculate ovulation and find out when your fertility window is. The fertility window is the best time to have sex to get pregnant.

If you haven't seen it yet, make sure to watch my video on how to calculate ovulation and work out when your fertility window is.
